    On the Water

The central feature of the Regatta will be the Mixed and Veterans Pilot Gig Championship, hosted by Saltash's own Caradon Pilot Gig Club. Because of the success of last years’ event when 135 crews entered, this will now take place on both Saturday and Sunday, together with a juniors event. This will be the most accessible gig event in the region, with splendid views of the racing upriver.

The Regatta will again feature the Five Towns Challenge on Saturday (for councillors from Saltash, Callington, Liskeard, Torpoint and Looe) for the HJ Davy Cup and the Waitrose Shield. (Saturday 1.00pm),

The Prince of Wales Cup, a race between HMS Raleigh recruits which has been part of the regatta for over 100 years will finish around lunchtime.

On Sunday, there will be the hilarious England and Back cutter race (12 noon), featuring up to 18 crews of strictly amateur rowers in fancy dress, competing for the honour of being first to place a Cornish Flag on the Plymouth shore! Contact us for entry forms.

There will also be demonstration from the Tamar Canoe Association.

The RNLI will be based on the beach and will carry out demonstrations throughout the weekend.
